The Magnolia State is pondering a fresh statute that would permit individuals to wager on sporting events via the internet.

The state presently sanctions sports wagering, but solely at gambling establishments. This novel legislation would empower individuals to place bets online through digital platforms and applications.

The proposed law stipulates that the Mississippi Gaming Commission would be entrusted with the responsibility of issuing permits to these online sports betting enterprises. Each entity would be restricted to a single online platform.

The legislation remains silent on the number of licenses to be distributed, their associated costs, or the tax burden imposed on these companies.
