The entertainment giant, Caesars Entertainment, is making a significant foray into Nebraska, with ambitious plans to establish the state’s inaugural fully integrated casino resort. Scheduled to debut in early 2024, this highly anticipated project will be anchored by Nebraska’s most extensive thoroughbred racetrack, strategically located in the heart of the Cornhusker State.

This week, Caesars unveiled its vision, offering the public a glimpse into the project through detailed plans and renderings during a community gathering. Notable figures were present, including Columbus Mayor Jim Bulkley and representatives from the Columbus Exposition and Racing, the Chamber of Commerce, and even the team from Whiting-Turner, the construction firm selected to realize this ambitious endeavor.

So, what awaits eager visitors? Picture this: “Harrah’s Columbus Racing & Casino,” a sprawling entertainment destination featuring a 28,000-square-foot casino floor. Envision over 500 slot machines, 14 bustling table games, and a dedicated area for sports enthusiasts to place wagers on their favorite teams.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there! Caesars is renowned for its commitment to guest satisfaction. A restaurant called “Brew Brothers” will cater to those seeking delicious food and beverages, while a bar named “Wishbone” pays homage to a cherished local establishment that closed its doors in 2021. And because convenience is key, a Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott and a Townplace Suites by Marriott will be directly connected to the casino.

Todd Connelly, a Regional President at Caesars, eloquently captured the sentiment: “This marks a pivotal moment for Caesars Entertainment, and we are incredibly excited to introduce this caliber of tourism and entertainment to Nebraska.” He further expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration and the warm reception from the community, stating, “We eagerly anticipate opening our doors and welcoming guests from Columbus and beyond in 2024.”

The firm intends to launch a pop-up gaming venue, dubbed Ag Park, in the late spring of 2023. This location will feature 200 slot machines and an expansive simulcast wagering area. Patrons will have the opportunity to accrue Caesar’s Rewards points before the debut of Harrah’s Columbus Racetrack and Casino the following year.
