The United Kingdom’s advertising regulatory body reprimanded BetVictor for a social media promotion featuring Barcelona players Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. It seems the advertisement was deemed excessively enticing, leading the ASA to determine it would be overly attractive to minors. Their judgment concluded it violated guidelines by holding “specific appeal” to individuals under eighteen years of age.

Felix Faulkner, an attorney specializing in marketing law at the firm, remarked on the judgment: “This latest verdict provides us with a more distinct understanding of which athletes are subject to the ASA’s updated regulations.”

He continued, “This marks the initial instance of a decision involving an athlete outside of the English leagues, expanding the ASA’s jurisdiction beyond what was originally observed with the Advertising Standards Committee (CAP) guidance released last October.”
