Allwyn, the organization poised to assume control of the UK National Lottery’s operations, has formally purchased Camelot Lottery Solutions (LS) Group. Camelot LS, formerly held by the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board, supplied vital lottery knowledge and systems.

This procurement signifies the conclusion of Camelot’s dominion over the UK National Lottery following almost three decades. Camelot had retained the permit since the lottery’s commencement in 1994 but was defeated in its attempt to secure the fourth license. They had contested Allwyn’s victorious bid, even resorting to litigation, but ultimately, the shift to Allwyn will transpire.

Intriguingly, although Camelot itself is now a component of the Allwyn group, their technological associate, IGT, persists in opposition. IGT is undertaking legal measures against the UK Gambling Commission, alleging that the determination to grant the lottery license to Allwyn has adversely affected their enterprise.

In a surprising move, Allwyn shocked observers by revealing their intention to acquire LS Group, the entity that owns Camelot. This followed Camelot’s unsuccessful bid to retain control of the UK’s National Lottery.

Early in 2023, the UK Gambling Commission approved the purchase. Allwyn’s Chief Executive, Robert Chvátal, stated that the consolidation would guarantee a seamless handover between lottery providers and utilize the extensive expertise and technological prowess of both organizations.
