The UK National Lottery’s administrator, Camelot, has pledged its support for British athletes traveling to Tokyo by financing essential COVID-19 precautions. Through this collaboration, Camelot assumes the roles of official ParalympicsGB partner and official Team GB supporter.
Camelot’s financial contribution will be pivotal in guaranteeing the well-being of both Olympic and Paralympic athletes before and throughout the Games. This investment will encompass various measures, including hygiene technology and testing for Team GB, as well as specialized transportation and lateral flow testing for ParalympicsGB, all aimed at upholding the most stringent COVID-19 safety protocols.
Camelot CEO, Nigel Railton, conveyed his sense of pride in assisting the athletes, particularly amidst these demanding circumstances. In addition to the direct athlete support, the funding will also establish a “Daily Health” initiative centered on staff well-being. Railton views this as a chance for Camelot personnel to “excel” while championing the athletes’ journey.
British Olympic Association CEO, Andy Anson, recognized the significance of Camelot’s well-timed assistance, highlighting its contribution to preserving a world-class setting for athletes in Tokyo.
Mike Sharrock, the top dog at the British Paralympic Association, confessed that the pandemic had a significant impact on their organization. However, he remains hopeful, particularly with the recent collaboration with Camelot. He’s confident that this will provide their athletes with the exceptional preparation and resources necessary to excel at the upcoming Summer Games.
