The Australian Media and Communications Authority (ACMA) has issued its initial official caution to a provider, Proxous Advanced Solutions. They discovered 13 internet casinos unlawfully offering services to Australians were utilizing Proxous’ live gaming (RTG) software.

The ACMA ascertained that Proxous intentionally furnished access to their software to these casinos, a clear breach of Australia’s Interactive Gambling Act of 2001. Inquiries by the ACMA validated that every one of the casinos in question were functioning illicitly within the Australian market.

The casinos pinpointed include well-known platforms like Fair Go Casino, Two Up Casino, and more. The ACMA stressed that these operators depended on Proxous’ software to drive their gambling activities and have subsequently implemented measures to obstruct access to these sites within Australia.

This measure signifies a substantial move in the ACMA’s continuing endeavors to oversee the online gambling sector. Since 2017, more than 170 unlawful offshore gambling operations have stopped providing services in Australia as a result of the ACMA’s enforcement actions. They persist in urging consumers to practice vigilance, as the semblance of legitimacy does not ensure consumer safeguards that are customary with licensed operators. This action targeting Proxous denotes the first instance a software provider has been directly addressed, indicating a wider strategy to combat illegal online gambling in Australia.

The ACMA, an organization in Australia, has not issued any official warnings to businesses for “participating in unlawful wagering activities by supplying software.”

However, they have initiated a new program known as BetStop. This system allows individuals experiencing difficulties with gambling habits to put themselves on a break from all authorized internet betting platforms in Australia. The shortest exclusion duration is three months, but individuals can opt to restrict themselves for a longer period.
