The Australian gaming behemoth, Crown Resorts, witnessed a staggering 62% plunge in its earnings during the initial six months of 2021. This precipitous decline is attributed to the lingering effects of the COVID-19 crisis and the firm’s ongoing battles with regulatory authorities.
Crown Melbourne, the company’s premier establishment, suffered a 91% revenue nosedive. This was primarily fueled by the shuttering of its gaming areas for a considerable duration due to government-imposed restrictions. Although Crown Perth performed marginally better with a 5% revenue dip, the corporation’s overall financial health presents a grim outlook.
Notwithstanding these difficulties, Crown’s Executive Chair, Helen Coonan, conveyed a dedication to collaborating with regulatory bodies to restore public confidence and enact essential changes. The company recognizes the imperative for a comprehensive restructuring of its operations to tackle the grave concerns that have been raised.
She further conveyed that her position as Chair is merely a provisional measure, and the organization is diligently seeking an appropriate replacement.
